Deep Dish Dungeon axe location
Checked 2026-10-16. Steam build 25955406. Patch 1.0.47.0.
Hatchet searches land here. I checked the build 25955406 item names and did not find a hatchet, only axe and great axe. I am also refusing to pick a winner between the two location posts until someone replays that tunnel on the current patch.
Two published spots
TechRaptor’s axe chapter (16 October 2026) walks a sewer route: break the gate, turn the wheels, crouch through the hole, sprint-jump the stairs by the grass, and take the axe at the end of the tunnel. Chopping brown roots then opens paths near the hub.
Steam threads the same week say the axe is not far past the green catacombs entrance, after you already hold a pickaxe and a grappling hook, near a small lake or frog area under a stair. Both can be true if two axes exist. The files do not say that in the notes I read, so both stay labeled as player or press routes. A great axe is a separate item name in the same file list. It also cuts roots. It is not the hatchet people are searching for.

What to do when you are holding it
Brown roots are the axe’s job. The hammer does not clear them, and the axe does not replace the hammer on rusty bars. If the tunnel TechRaptor describes is empty on your seed, check the catacombs claim before you assume the axe was patched out. Some keys and treasures are placed with a random offset. I have not seen an official note that the axe itself moves.
