How to break bars in Deep Dish Dungeon
Checked 2026-10-16. Steam build 25955406. Patch 1.0.47.0.
I checked NPC Tips’ break-bars note for build 25955406 because the YouTube results for this question never name the weapon. The file-derived answer is narrow: rusty metal fences take damage from the hammer, and the war hammer is tagged as a sword so it does nothing to them. I have not stood in that sewer room myself, so the exact doorway is still “beside the bars,” not a room number.
The only tool that works
The bars players are trying to break are rusty metal fences. NPC Tips, reading the full-game files, says only the hammer damages them. Weapons, fire, and the war hammer do not. There is one hammer, lying in the sewers next to a fenced stretch, which means you reach that side by walking around.
The iron-bars gate page is the same mechanism, written for people who searched the door rather than the verb. Do not craft a second theory for a second kind of bar. The files describe one.
- Progress the sewers until you can loop behind the fenced gap.
- Pick up the hammer that is sitting next to those bars.
- Hit the rusty fence with that hammer, not the war hammer.
- If a recipe for another hammer appears later, it shows up at the workbench only after you have held the first one.
What is still unchecked
Nobody has published a room name or a map pin. If a later patch moves the hammer, this page should say so next to the build number. The hammer’s own item page tracks the 3 iron rod recipe that appears after the first pickup.
Questions
Why will the war hammer not break the bars?
NPC Tips says the game classifies the war hammer as a sword. Rusty fences only accept the hammer.
