How to get the hammer in Deep Dish Dungeon

Checked 2026-10-16. Steam build 25955406. Patch 1.0.47.0.

I split this from the “break bars” page on purpose. That page is the swing. This page is the object: one hammer in the sewers, then a recipe of 3 iron rods that the workbench reveals after you have held it. The war hammer is a different weapon and does not break fences.

Pickup, then craft

NPC Tips places the only hammer in the sewers, next to a stretch of rusty fence, so you walk around to reach it. It breaks those fences and nothing in the notes says a second hammer is lying around.

After the first one is in your inventory, the workbench can show a hammer recipe that costs 3 iron rods. Spend rods on the workbench (2), cooking pot (3), and chains (2) with that in mind.

Questions

Is the war hammer the same tool?

No. The files treat the war hammer as a sword. Fences ignore it.
