How the cooking bench unlocks
Checked 2026-10-16. Steam build 25955406. Patch 1.0.47.0.
I would have written “build the workbench” if I had stopped at older demo wikis. The 15 October 2026 Steam thread “Bug with Cooking Table?” says that is wrong on the full game. People who already owned a workbench still had no cooking table until they picked up wild corn in the bat room. More than one player confirmed it. Patch 1.0.47.0 does not mention this unlock.
What to pick up
Wild corn is not the corn gem. The gem is a sanctuary-door treasure in a chest or behind a skeleton archer. Wild corn is the cooking-table key, reported in the bat room. After it is in your bag, the cooking table station should list itself.
The workbench is still worth building. It costs 3 wood planks, 2 iron rods, and 1 leather, and it crafts hooks, hammers, and other tools. It is just not the switch for this station.
- Build or ignore the workbench. It does not unlock this station either way.
- Reach the bat room and pick up wild corn. Do not confuse it with the corn gem.
- Open the crafting list again. The cooking table should be there after that pickup.
- If a co-op partner still cannot see it, they need the corn in their own inventory. Other recipes unlock per player.
Which station this is
Dev Blog #5 and the build 25955406 recipe notes name eight places food can be made: the crafting menu, workbench, cooking table, cooking pot, skillet, oven, rotisserie, and kettle. This page is only the cooking table. The pot is the station Queen’s Door and the bat-room gold door actually ask you to cook on.
Behold has not posted an official unlock line for the table. The wild-corn report is player-tested on 15 October 2026, and patch 1.0.47.0 does not mention it. If a later patch moves the trigger, the date on this page is the thing to distrust first.
Questions
I built a workbench. Why is cooking still locked?
On the reports from 15 October 2026, the cooking table waits for wild corn in the bat room.
